The entire process of setting up your new Stripe Account, requesting Stripe to move your customers and their cards, and finally transfering the Subscriptions can take a few weeks depending on Stripe Customer Service availability. The automated process of moving the Subscriptions happen on the same day they are initiated and "downtime" for your app can be completely avoided or minimized to just a few hours.

Most common issues can be avoided with good preparation. Common issues can include webhooks calling the previous Stripe account, Subscriptions that have already been cancelled becoming active again, and trials not being handled properly. Our process helps to mitigate as many risks of issues happening during the process as possible.

Who does what?

Transferring your Stripe Subscriptions from one account to another is a process that we've done several times. Our experience is to your advantage to avoid any common pitfalls. The entire process involves interaction with Stripe's Customer Support team, some hands-on work by you, and some automation tools written by us to automate most of the transfer of the Subscriptions.

Request Stripe Support to transfer Customers and Cards from Account A to Account B

The timing of this is important, so please get in touch with us to help coordinate this. Your request will be handled by Stripe on their timeline, so we will want to be prepared prior to this request being made. This way we can do the work we need to do upon their notification that the work is complete.

Grant us access to both Stripe Accounts

Our automation tools will need developer access tokens, and access to both account Dashboards, in order to complete the transfer. This can be coordinated in such a way that our access to your Stripe Accounts is both approperiately limited in scope and duration.

Webhooks and Subscription IDs

Webhooks to your application, if you're using them, will need to be deactivated/activated by you at the time of your choosing. We will help you with this process. If needed, once the transfer is complete, someone on your team will need to update the Subscription IDs for your customers.

Stripe Customer Support will transfer your customer's information from Account A to Account B.

Transfer Customer Information

The complete customer profile including Name, Email, etc. is transferred by Stripe Customer Support on their timeline. Customer IDs are retained.

Transfer Customer Credit Cards

Stripe Customer Support will transfer Customer Credit Card information from Account A to Account B. The Card IDs will be not be retained between accounts.

Stripe Customer Support will not transfer Subscriptions/Plan information between Accounts.
